Microsoft and Toyota join together to bring Cloud telematics to the car


This all about the announcement made by the two giant Microsoft and Toyota that will partner together allowing Toyota building a global cloud platform that will update in car telematics in Toyota hybrids and plug-in vehicles, starting this coming 2012.

Due to the fact the car increasingly becomes the ultimate mobile device for consumers, the telematics technologies will allow drivers to start their cars using remote, turn on their AC from a cell phone, check systems within the car and much more.

The two giants companies are aiming to help develop and deploy telematics applications on the Windows Azure platform that includes Windows Azure and Microsoft SQL Azure.

As of now Toyota is already conducting trials in Japan of its Toyota Smart Center pilot program, and plans to link people, automobiles and homes for integrated control of energy consumption.

It is also believes that, due to the popularity of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, such systems will rely more on telematics services in achieving efficient energy management. Perhaps Microsoft also seeing this trend, they are clearly hoping to jump on the next technological wave as it happens.

Toyota’s set a goal to establish a complete global cloud platform by the next 2015 that will provide affordable and advanced telematics services to Toyota automotive customers around the globe.
